Stinger, thanks for your good words about the Savage. I have very litte experience with bikes previous to my Savage and it's good to hear such positive comparisons by someone who has it.
Though a novice, let me say that when you pull the tank to work on the speedo, be sure to pay careful attention on how the speedo cable threads through the body down to the engine so you can replace it correctly. I changed the route and wound up with another, but different, noise, probably due to the inner cable rubbing agains the plastic sheath due to the S-curve I put into the cable when I reassembled everything. Oh, and the "cure" laid out here in the forum for the speedo vibration really does resolve the original vibration. No sweat.
One last thing, could you let us know how your new muffler and re-jetting turns out? I'm considering the same thing and would like your evaluation. Thanks!
